The Grál Valley in Hungary is a beautiful place. Here, Tamás Bükki led a silent trip, a spiritual pilgrimage, a hike in silence, without a word.
“Virgo-Pisces way in Grál-völgy is an initiatory path, through which Earth and Heaven are connected within you.” – says Tamás.
There was a group of people following each other in perfect order, up to mountains and down to valleys, silently, without talking through the trip, not a word.
Self-discovery in nature, through hiking, surrounded by the trees and other pilgrims, but still alone, focusing on our inner voice, the echo of the forest in our soul. It is a transformative journey that helps us to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, our emotions, during the experiences in the wilderness.
It was an honour to document this journey. I found it a great challenge to find the best spot to take photos without disturbing the peaceful silence and the slow flow of the walk. To be there as a photographer where people hike as a form of meditation – I had to be very sensitive. I really enjoyed it, and the journey also carried deep messages for me.
There were difficult parts of the pilgrimage, when we had to struggle to the top, sweating and using all our strength. Silent struggle, together and yet alone. You can find strength in seeing others walking the same path, it’s not easy for anyone – but only you can lead yourself to the top and your own victory.
And it’s really true that you can reach the top of the mountain most easily if you always look at the just the next step. Because you always find the strength within yourself for the next step. Always just one more.
During a short break, we could also listen to Tamás’ teaching, the only human voice amidst the sacred sounds of the forest.
